OK. I have a question and I hope someone could enlighten me. I heard today that you can't be selected for ALL State honors if you enroll in College at semester? This might hurt Cody Cook, as he is "allegedly" enrolling in January at OU. PS. If this post should be in on the rumor area, please feel free to move it. Cook won't play in the All-State game and neither will Box. Usually it's only the JUCO and D-II guys that play in the game. Stoops doesn't let his boys play. Last year I talked to Derek Burton at the All-State game just watching in street clothes, he made the team. Just like Reggie Smith never played in it. I was sitting by Dan Coccanouer at the 2005 game and he said Stoops wouldn't let him (but I don't blame him either). Joe Patterson was also there watching from the stands after maki.ng it for QB, but you are not allowed to play in 2 sports, so he chose to play in the baseball game where he hit 3 to the warning track in dead center. Last year Brandon McLaurin got injured due to referee's letting players make cheap hits (the game eded in a 0-0 tie)

I wish the best players in OK would play in the game. If D1 guys won't play...then they should still be all-staters, but other players who will play should take their spot.

I think I need to communicate my question better. The rumor I heard was that you can't be picked for All-State honors if you enroll early in college, not whether or not you will actually play in the game itself.
Sorry to not be clear in the earlier post.

It doesn’t matter, what matters, did your team win state, guaranteed spot with not more than 2 per team, Re: Jenks Coach submitted spot was Ty Cobb, Oline guaranteed spot, Tanner Shuck was all consensus. But was Ty one of the top Oline in the state, no but he was the 6a state champ coaches choice. Was your coach on the selection committee, guaranteed spot (re: Sapulpa All-State Dline? , Bartlesville All-State Wide receiver? ? All of the Coaches that were on the selection committed happened to get an All-state player just because. The Tulsa World and Daily Oklahoma All-State Team are more reflective of the Top talent in the State, With the Oklahoman slightly favoring the west side and the Tulsa World slightly favoring the east side. The Coaches all state is all politics and honestly a joke and not a reflection of the best players in the state, when you have kids with full ride scholarships to OU, OSU and TU not getting selected over kids that are getting no looks or at best from a NAIA school, something is up.

You would think that would be the way it works but it doesn't. Only those that get the rings after the games are considered official "Coaches All Staters."
I made the Coaches All State teams in both football and baseball. I played in the football game and was replaced on the baseball team. Since I didn't play in the baseball game my name was taken off the officail list and the player who took my spot was considered the All State Player.
There was even a kid on our football team who was hurt at the first practice and he was replaced the next day. Guess what, he didn't get a ring and the replacement did.
The All State football game needs to be played in May so that all the kids whose college coaches don't want them to play will have the opportunity to play before they begin working out on the college campus. Some of these kids also start taking summer college courses so they can get a routine about cllasses, working out and getting adjusted to college life.
