Well, not to get away from all the fun we are having on this thread so far, but one guy who IMHO is one that bigger D-1 schools let get away was Tanner Shuck from Jenks. If you watch the video on the Garrett Bennett thread in the 6A football board, see how often #7 for Jenks is making the play. I see him as having the potential to be the next Garrett Mills - turned down by big name schools because of size (he's 5' 11"), but with the intangibles and intelligence to play much bigger than he is. He knows how to win, and obviously has the smarts, having turned down two Ivy League schools, as well as two of the service academies. He will be at Rice, which I suppose qualifies as a D-1 school ( ), but could have been a real impact player at many schools with successful programs.

But it was off subject.

Well, it was on subject in the sense that it was about a player who got very little serious D-I consideration but who, in my opinion, met the criteria of what should be considered a solid D-I player.
The issue being what makes somebody a D-II candidate (presumably as opposed to D-I), I think it was relevant to consider somebody who attracted little D-I buzz. I think it's fair to say that if Tanner Shuck announced he was willing to play D-II, he would have had his pick of many such programs.
