When Allan Trimble took over for a Legend...he kept the same offense and defense and won 7 titles in his first 8 years.

You guys really think you know a whole lot. But this is a fact...In fact contrary to popular belief Coach Bill Blankenship didnt even recommend Spav for the job, he in fact told the comittee face to face that Spavital was NOT the right choice to lead the redskins. Coach B also told Coach Wright, he needed to let him go as soon as possible along with Coach Witcher, noting that both of them would be a hinderance to the Union Football Program. If you dont believe Call in to your beloved Coach B. You as a player only saw the product you got will being coached. Coach B was the glue that held the staff together, there wasn't a staff member one that liked Spavital. Go and ask the assistants that stayed how they feel, since you are such a Spav fan you probably would be hurt. See the thing about being a "kid that played" you dont know anything about what goes on and that is a compliment to Coach B. But people knew, believe me everyone knew. It is public information young boy, go file a public information request at the ESC , 5656 S 129 E ave. You will have to put in writing who voted for who in the Head Coaching/AD position. You will find that for Coach Wright was unaminous. To make it all so funny Spavital wasn't even their SECOND choice. Sorry, but Coach Blankenship did in fact recommend Spavital for the job. He warned Spavital about taking it, because of the pressure to win state every year, but he also supported Spavital's hiring. Unfortunately Coach Blankenship, the architect of the football program, was not given a say in the hiring process so his endorsement of Spavital meant nothing in the eyes of the school board. And your statement about Blankenship telling the board Spav was not the right choice is just a flat out lie. I know for a fact that Blankenship wasn't even allowed to attend the meetings. And again Blankenship did not tell Wright to let Spavital go. They are long time friends, they've been coaching together for 20+ years, Blankenship would not do anything to get Spav fired. And you know what Jonnyboy I will call coach Blankenship over the break. It's been a while since I've spoken to him. It's helarious that you would say that there wasn't even one coach that liked him on the staff last year after I gave you this quote by Coach Wilkinson who was on our staff last year: “We’re running the defense that Union ran last year,” said Wilkinson, who was a Union assistant in 2005. “When I was at Jenks, I always thought Steve Spavital’s Union defense was the toughest we faced. “After I got the job at Metro, I asked Steve to teach me his defense. He’s a great friend and teacher, and is my consultant and mentor.” If you read that and thought to yourself "Man that guy really hates Spav." then you probably have a medium to severe case of mental retardation. I can not think of one coach on the staff that didn't like Spavital. The defensive coaches like Bohannon and Snider didn't like having to hear him yelling into their ears from the pressbox, but I can assure you they had no problems with him as a coach or person. Snider told me himself that if Spavital didn't get the job he was going to quit. Cancer has begun to get the best of him, but he was going to try to stick it out as long as he could if Spavital was named head coach. And you're right about one thing. Spavital wasn't their second choice. He wasn't their 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th choice. Mrs. Burden and Mr. Radar weren't going to hire him no matter who the other candidates were. Cathy Burden made the requirement of a unanimous vote on purpose. She knew Radar would never vote for him so there would be no chance of Spav being named head coach if a unanimous vote was required. The hiring of Wright was a formality simply because Spav was out of the equation. This is why two board members personally appologized to Spavital after the hiring process was over. I think I've shown that I know quite a bit more than you.

Wilkinson cost Jenks the state title in 2004. All he did was Run and Gun with Brewer.... after about 15 designed QB draws/keepers, a defense like Unions is gonna catch on.

If the players don't execute it doesn't matter what you call. Spavital called every defense imaginable to stop Jenks last year, but as a team we just didn't execute, or play hard for that matter. The schemes were good, but if you don't play smart or hard there's going to be problems. Spavital placed a lot of blame on himself for our performance, but he wasn't fooling any of us. We stunk.

Yes coach Fridrich was Union's 1st choice ...... proof being that Dr Burden re-opened the search after she said she had narrowed it to 3. Owasso loves coach Fred ......... I knew Owasso would. Dr Ogilvie has to be given alot of credit for getting him first. There sure are alot of Union people up here now ...... Union North ? ?
