Some observations from the Jenks/Lawton game:

The opening quarter and a half was the absolute worst performance I have ever seen Jenks put on the field. Whether they were affected by the long bus ride, the strange field, the playing in the afternoon, I don't know. They just stank. A blocked punt for a safety. A dropped punt for a turnover. A snap over the punter's head. Two interceptions. A poor snap on PAT that resulted in hitting the upright. Inability to tackle. An apparent lack of intensity, at least as compared to the Wolverines.

Despite all that, Jenks trailed only 12-7 at the half and, had an ill-advised pass not been attempted by a rusher trying not to lose a bunch of yards, they probably would have scored and led at the half.

From midway in the second quarter on, it was if a switch had been flipped and Lawton had absolutely no answer for almost anything Jenks tried. It became the Chris Atkins show, as he started ripping off 8 to 15 yards with almost every attempt.

Jenks had the ball at Lawton's 5 as time got short and started taking a knee with over a minute left. On the second such play, a couple of frustrated Lawton linemen decided to lose any class they might have possessed and burst through the line and tackled Ginther hard as he was putting the knee down. They did it again the next play and I was pleased that no brawl resulted. Fans wanted Jenks to score once more in response to that, but Trimble was happy to just get the game over and get out of town.

Cornelius Douglas is a stud. He's a fast, strong runner with a tremendous ability to make defenders miss him and look really stupid in the process. He's only a junior and will be one of the top players to watch next year.

Muskogee is in a different class entirely than Lawton. If Jenks thinks they can play a quarter and a half next Friday the same way they started against Lawton, they will have really good seats to see the Roughers play somebody for the gold ball. If they play Muskogee like they finished tonight, they will be very difficult for anybody to stop them.

Matt - really good to meet you. I probably won't be able to make the Muskogee rematch, but if the Trojans make it to the finals, I'll be there with the gang again. Look me up then, if you can.

sorry ice man i had totally forgot and i had to leave at halftime as well Lawton Jumped out to an early 12-0 lead after a jenks punted and it was blocked for a safety (which should have been a touchdown) then jenks scored and made it 12-7 lawton high got a punt blocked for a safety 12-9 then righ tbefore the end of the half jenks pitched it to their Running back and he fumbled it picked it up and iono if he was trying to throw it away or if it was a designed play but he threw it up and Austin Brown came over and made a diving interception and it was 12-9 Lawton High at the half. Then i had to leave
