Be good for a history lesson...those of you who are older, or know people who were there for it, feel free to add on.
Del City
1953-a football program is born...coached by Leo Presley, a former Univ. of Okla. player who played one year in the NFL with the Redskins. He was born in Texas, but went to Prep School in Massachusetts. He went 30-20 from 1953-57. On 9-11-1953, Del City lost to Blanchard 26-0, in what I assume was the first ever game for D.C.H.S. Info needed on first win. Del City won the first Mid-Del battle. Mr. Presley passed away in 1975, at the age of 53.
1958-John R. Adams named head coach. He finished 15-12-2 and I assume he died in 1960. The Oklahoman archives allow you to see the newspaper headlines, but not the whole article. It was dated 1960, which was his final year. Anyone know any details? The headline at the Daily Oklahoman on Dec. 12, 1960 stated that "Football Coach at Del City Dies."
1960-Earl Shuck was hired 12 days later. Shuck resigned with a 21-20-1 record from 1961-1964.
1965-Ralph Parker takes over. Wins coach of the year in 65. Parker coached at Edison and was picked to coach the all-star/state game there in 1960.
1967-68 Jerry Harris takes over.
In 1968, Robert Kalsu, former Del City, Univ. of Okla., and Buffalo Bills player, dies in Vietnam. A while later the football stadium is named for Kalsu.
Harris goes 5-15 in two seasons.
1969-1970-Earl Overton goes 2-19.
1971-74-Frank Hughes takes over and goes a respectable 20-18-4. Named 1971 Coach of the Year. Hughes may have gone on to be Principal at Western Heights (the name is the same).
1975-Henry Manning takes over. His coaching career at Del City included: the 4A State Championship Team in 1976 and the Mid State Conference Champions in 1976 and 1980; being named Region 8 Football Coach of the Year in 1977; being honored as the Region 8 Athletic Director of the Year in 1981-82, 1985-86, 1993-94 and 1996-97; coaching the West Squad in the All State Football Game in 1987; serving on the Board of Control for Oklahoma Coaches Association, 1987-88; selected to Oklahoma Football Coaches’ Hall of Fame in 1994; taking the Eagles to the State Playoffs 21 times in 24 years and had 170 wins at Del City High School.
His assistants who have gone on to head coach have included (but not limited to): Gary Rose, Rick Jones, Paul Beesley, Lindy Welborn, and Randy Wilson.

1976-Del City scores four straight touchdowns to beat Coach Little's PC West Patriots for their first State Championship.
(feel free to elaborate, trojansrule.)
1994-Bennie Butler sets state and school rushing records.
Dec. 17-1998-Manning fired. "The worst thing about this is, after all of these years of coaching, to go out like this," Manning said. "I wanted to be able to go out on my own like I wanted to. I'm guessing, but I think there were three sets of parents who wanted a change, and they went to the school board and got the school board to make the move." "I'll retire and play golf." In 2005, the new weight center was named after him.

First two years go relatively well-80 players out for football, in his first season Craig loses his first game to Midwest City then goes on to win district and beat Midwest City in the first round of the play-offs. They lose at home vs. Ike in the second round. The next year, they cruise to the play-offs and lose 20-0 to Edmond North.
2001-Mid-Del moves athletics from class-time to after-school. After this, numbers dwindle at Del City as low as 38 players (2005) in Class 6A football.
2003-Steve Hammond , who led Del City to its only state football championship, died April 17. He was 43.
Hammond was named The Oklahoman's back of the year - a title now equivalent to state offensive player of the year - in 1976. He rushed for 1,455 yards, averaging 7.3 yards per carry, and scored 20 touchdowns as the Eagles went 12-1 and won the Class 4A championship.
"I think Del City has kind of been known for having a lot of good tailbacks, and I think Steve is the one that got us on track in that direction," said former Del City football coach Henry Manning, who coached Hammond.
2005-2006-Athletics moved back to class periods.
2006-Craig resigns with a 28-55 record, going 12-48 after 2000, which was the year Manning's last sophomore class graduated.
Feb. 2007 "Del City assistant football coach Nick Warehime was named Jeff Craig’s successor as the new Del City head football coach at Monday night’s board meeting. Warehime was a former head coach at Choctaw and John Marshall High Schools as well. He also had a stint as an assistant at Midwest City." Warehime, known for his offensive lines, leads Del City to a 3-7 record in his first year as Head Coach.
