Typical American Ignorance. Your calling me ignorant because I expressed what most Americans think of the most boring spectator sport ever conceived. More Americans know his wife than him and for a fledgling league to pay $250 million to a guy that most Americans have never heard of is asinine. But I have to admit I'm hurt being insulted by some spoiled know it all rich kid who's daddy gives him everything he wants. Who cares what most Americans think of it? Who cares what you think of it? Whats boring about it? Its a fast paced, non stop action sport, its the most popular sport in the world and the fastest growing team sport in the United States. PLUS. America is home to more soccer players ( 18 million ) then any other nation on the planet. So what are you saying? Throw that 18 million out the window? Yeah...thats what I would classify as ignorance. Another thing, most Americans know who David Beckham is, and if in fact more Americans knew who Posh Spice is then David Beckham then thats just another example of ignorance. The worlds most popular and well paid athlete is known by less here then some pop singer....way to go on your argument there champ. The MLS bringing in David Beckham is a GREAT move for Soccer in the US and just because you dont care doesnt mean there isnt at least 18 million others in this country that dont. Your logic is flawed. Your intelligence is about on par with that of a cheez-it and your pathetic little swipes at my character are childish.

First off, Baashar where do you live? America I believe? Saying Americans are typically ignorant is stupid. Most Americans have no interest in soccer because we find it boring(including myself). A lot of Americans also think baseball and hockey are boring and don't care about those either. Does that make them ignorant? And minerbob, Baashar is working for his money. He works longer and harder and makes more money than most people on this board. While his dad does have a lot of money, he is not some spoiled know it all rich kid. He does have more opportunities than a lot of people, because that's what his dad worked for, but don't even try to act like if you had those opportunities you wouldn't take them. Stick to the argument at hand and forget about personal insults. Who cares where I live? The majority of Americans have some kind of "Holier The Thou" mentality and are completely ignorant to everything outside their borders. I didnt say just because someone doesnt like a sport it makes them ignorant, its more along of the lines of his comments were ignorant. You know I love ya Patric but dont get it twisted. And Mat, dont get all trigger happy and delete everything, you always do that, allow minerbob to bask in his stupidity.

Wow baashar something about that spoiled little rich kid got under you skin must be true huh? Just go cry to daddy and he’ll probably buy you another bmw. I’ve noticed that anyone on here that disagrees with you in anyway is ignorant it just confirms my point that you’re a “know it all.” Not only did you insult me with that comment you insulted every American that dislikes the “world’s game” but hey your entitled to your opinion that all American‘s are ignorant and that your view’s on everything is much more superior than anyone else‘s. And go ahead and give me -10,000 karma just like you did the last person on here that disagreed with the great baashar.

Why would it get under my skin? Oh I make more money then you...yes this bothers me greatly.
Just go cry to daddy and he’ll probably buy you another bmw.
Hm...think that might work? Ive had my eye on an M5 for awhile now....
I’ve noticed that anyone on here that disagrees with you in anyway is ignorant
Really? Where did you notice that? Please show me one instance where Ive called someone ignorant for disagreeing with me. Go ahead, enlighten me.
it just confirms my point that you’re a “know it all.”
Yah?
Not only did you insult me with that comment you insulted every American that dislikes the “world’s game”
Did I? How's that?
but hey your entitled to your opinion that all American‘s are ignorant and that your view’s on everything is much more superior than anyone else‘s.
Did I say everyone? No. Go to Europe. Go to Canada. Go to South America. Go to Asia. Pretty much everyone thinks we're ignorant.
And go ahead and give me -10,000 karma just like you did the last person on here that disagreed with the great baashar.
Did I do that? Really? Who did I do that to? You may stop pulling random accusations out of your ass now.

But I have to admit I'm hurt being insulted by some spoiled know it all rich kid who's daddy gives him everything he wants. aight first off everyone seems to forget the soccer is the number one sport in the world, there is a reason for that. soccer is a fluid game with very little stops. many argue that its boring because there's little scoring but that makes it that much better when someone scores. some of the best games i've seen have been nil-nil ties. Now, when it is watched at its highest level it is an amazing sport. much more exciting than baseball, basketball, and dare i say even American football. soccer at its highest level is played in Europe. so before you completely diss a entire sport watch a few games at that level. Beckham's move to america is simply to help fuel interest. if you think back to the NASL when pele came to the states it sparked a soccer nerve in america. Becks is trying to do the same. soccer is the number one sport played by young children in the states the idea is to eventually make soccer popular here. so when you turn on the espn on saturdays you can see the great rivalry of Real Madrid and Barcalona of Spain or AC Milan and Inter Milan of Italy and Even Arsenal and Manchester United of England. At the end of the day if your not open to it you'll never enjoy it. its a beautiful game that takes the speed of a running back the aggression of a linebacker but controlled with touch and grace for 90minutes of constant passion and heart.

Your logic is flawed. Your intelligence is about on par with that of a cheez-it and your pathetic little swipes at my character are childish. Okay, well first off, you are insinuating that 18 million people enjoy soccer bc they par take in it, B. well I'll let you add about 100 million to that to cover people who like to watch it and overall just enjoy the sport. Wait a second...Umm even if I did cut you some slack and give you an additional 100 million to add to your statistic that is used in proving Mr. minerbob wrong, you still wouldn't be proving him wrong Baashar. There are roughly 300 million people in America. yeahh your 118 million (that i generously gave you) wouldn't beat out his statistic as most Americans bc last time i checked, 182 million is a greater amount than 118 million. So he would be justified in saying most Americans don't like the sport of soccer according to your defense. so in reality, he wasn't ignorant for saying that. the ignorance comes from people not knowing the difference between "your" and "you're", "then" and "than", "there" and "their", etc. So I guess you can see that there are many different views of ignorance huh B? And his "pathetic little swipes at your character are childish"? I am guessing that means his personal attacks about you being " a spoiled know it all rich kid"? Baashar, seriously? no one would even be able to criticize you, good or bad, for any of that if you didn't post about your personal life all the time. you basically ask for it by giving them ammo. Ok I will set the record straight. Is Baashar rich? yes. big whoop. he has money. con-fuhreakin-gratulations! Is he a know it all? hell no. he knows he isn't. does he act like it? all. the. time. don't be fooled though, he's more intelligent than you know, just not very smart. is he spoiled? hell yes. Is he a hard worker? very much so. but guess what? he is human just like the rest of us. and an A-S-S. He thinks his opinion is right and doesn't realize that OPINIONS aren't right or wrong. so i guess what i am trying to say is this. Minerbob, i believe you were right in saying he is a spoiled rich kid. which isn't necessarily a bad thing or anything he can control. i just don't agree with the know it all thing. BTW Baashar, Mat(t) is spelled with 2 t's.

The fact of the matter is this: Whether you like the game of soccer or not, David Beckham will create publicity in the USA. That's what is needed to grow the game. Look at this thread compared to all the other Soccer threads on this site. It has has a tremendous amount of responses in the last week. I actually believe it may be the most popular thread in the forum in the last couple of days, and again it's in the SOCCER section. It has stirred recognition from Soccer and non-soccer fans. Welcome to the United States of America David Beckham......you are already growing our sport!

I completely agree with you just4kixx. He will and already has created a ton of publicity and opinions have already began to stir. Whatever his reasoning for coming to the states, I am sure that played a part. That being he wanted to accomplish being a star and big shot in "the land of opportunity". That isn't necessarily negative, just another challenge to conquer. I am sure he'll succeed because good looks seem to get you extremely far in America. It is a main value. Plus he has extreme talent. I think it is awesome that they got him. Nothing is better than getting paid for doing something that you love. It is hard to blame him.

One little hitch in your argument skipper, I never argued that most Americans LIKE soccer, I simply argued that a LARGE majority of Americans do and to disregard them entirely is ignorant. Ill admit Im an A S S H O L E as soon as you admit you think youre some kind of know it all as well Skipper P.S Sorry Matt with two Ts
